Her speech was absolutely inspiring |
I have never been to a forum at either BYU-H or BYU. Today was the first one and I loved it. Condoleezza Rice came and spoke. Her speech was so amazing, and I am truly inspired; I left the forum and still think that I can do anything, I felt so empowered by her. I have not felt that way in a long time. I loved that she is grateful for this amazing country and what it could offer to others with responsible leadership.
She told us as students that she is hopeful for the future because she believes in us. She believes that we can carry on what our forefathers wanted for this country. If I went to Stanford, I would be taking her political science classes FOR SURE!! I took notes and here are some thoughts that really stood out to me:
"The United States that does not re-affirm te private sector is the worst enemy to the prosperous United States."
"It doesn't matter where you came from, only where you are going."
"We[students] have the special ability to take what is and integrate it into what can be."
She also respects our religion, she said that she loves that the LDS religion focuses on the family. She said that her family is who she is. You never think of people in the press as real people, but she got emotional, personal and very professional all at the same time. She is truly amazing. I loved how she is so confident, (she even complemented BYU Basketball). All in all, when I grow up, I want to be Condoleezza Rice.
