Summer has come and gone so FAST. I can hardly believe I am down to only a month before school starts again. Back to the beaches and classes.......but before all that happens, my family and I have had an 'exciting' summer so far. My roommate/teammate/friend came and visited from China: Elwen. She was lots of fun to have here and it was fun for me to watch her be in the 'country' away from everything that we have in common. I think she had a sort of hard time believing that there is OPEN space out in the world. We went on a trip to Seattle, which turned into 19 hours of driving around the state; up north to the Vampires, then around in the Olympic Forest, Mt. Rainier, and other places. Washington truly is beautiful. We went to Silverwood, and took James and Jonah with us. She also got to drive the Jenne's horses, the car, she was able to see cherries being harvested, the asparagus shed, the winery, and the canal first hand.
The day before she left, Elwen and I went to the cherry orchard early in the morning. On our way home, I decided to run the rest of the way on the dirt road, and just had her take the car. I told her where to go, and figured she would make it home. For soem reason, I had a feeling come to me SO strong that said "THE CANAL" and once I got home, I saw why I had that feeling. I beat the car home. I walked inside and instantly my dad was running down the stairs, "Let's go, Elwen drove the car into the canal." Thankfully she was OK. She did have to swim out of the rear passenger window, climb out of the canal, and walk at least a quarter of a mile to the nearest field where a man in the ward was fumigating, and he recognized her and called my dad. Poor thing!!!!
