Homecoming, FHE and Halloween? OCTOBER?????

My pictures loaded backwards of course. Anyway, I have been living a life, a very busy one in fact. The first picture: admire my carving skills. I did not want anything to do with the carving, but once Jessica finished cleaning out the pumpkin and left it, I had to finish the project (for those of you who know me....A typical). So, I decided I was going to do a spiral, and it actually turned out! I stayed focused on that stupid decoration that will literally ROT in a few weeks for like half an hour making sure the spiral stayed together.

Picture #2: My new calling. I am an FHE mom. It has actually been fun and I think our 'family' is going to be a great one this semester. We have all types of personalities so it will be just like a real family.:) In my group we have twenty-two people. I have learned already that when we play games in a circle we need to go faster. It is however a great opportunity for me to forget about myself and serve others. I have been trying to do this more in my life, and have noticed a big difference with my initial reactions to people.

Picture #3: Homemade Cafe Rio!! I have a thing for the pork at Cafe Rio. You can ask my mom, it is my ABSOLUTE favorite! I decided about a month ago that I was going to make it for our roommate dinner on Sunday, but then life got in the way and got post-poned. SO one day, I got out of practice early and decided to be ambitious and make Cafe Rio; complete with the tomatillo sauce and all. If I do say so myself, it was SO good and hit the spot. Jarrett came and ate with us. Also, introducing my roommates, Lauren and Michelle. They are amazing, hilarious, cute and ambitious girls. They are also from Washington, just the other side. It has been SO much fun living with them.

Picture #4: HOMECOMING...Need I say more? Come on, who doesn't love parades, and especially being part of one? I have not experienced homecoming in my college career until I came to Provo. That weekend was bitter-sweet for me. While I was really wanting to be playing the tournament in Santa Barbara, I am really grateful for the opportunity I had after the parade. The mens team, Andi, Kelsie and I went to a center, and taught down syndrome adults tennis. It was so much fun and I am amazed at how much love they exude. They were so happy and carefree, and it was fun to teach them some skills and watch them master them. I worked with a girl named Lisa, and before every time I tossed her the ball, she did this little jig and then told me she was ready. I threw the ball too high sometimes, and she told me, but then she would get it and get SO excited! It was an amazing opportunity to be there. I called my aunt who has a downs child, and I am excited for him to grow up and see what he can do. He's just a little guy right now, but his future is BRIGHT I am sure!!
